Our thoughts are bees: Writers Working with Schools

This book is the definitive resource for writers, teachers and those who co-ordinate writing projects in schools.

Both authors have worked extensively with schools and deliver training and consultancy on writing in education.

Mandy Coe is an award-winning poet for children and adults. Her work has been widely published and broadcast on radio and television.

Hard Water, Jean Sprackland's latest book, was shortlisted for the TS Eliot Prize.

The book, relevant in all parts of Britain, is the result of a year's research, funded by Arts Council England and supported by NAWE together with NALD, The Poetry Society and Writing Together. It covers all the important issues, including how writers can find work in schools; training and professional development; planning and leading workshops; and writers and teachers working in partnership.

NAWE members can order the book at the significantly reduced price of £5 (plus £2 p&p).
Please send cheques made out to NAWE to: PO Box 1, Sheriff Hutton, York YO60 7YU

"This book is exactly what it should be: useful, practical and detailed but also inspiring, enlightening and far-reaching. Writers as well as teachers will find it invaluable. I recommend it whole-heartedly."

Shandy Hall

Asterisk* is the centre for the study and development of narrative, based at Shandy Hall (also NAWE's registered office) where Laurence Sterne wrote Tristram Shandy. Both Mandy Coe and Jean Sprackland benefited from time at Shandy Hall while working on Our thoughts are bees. Schools are welcome to contact the Curator, Patrick Wildgust, to find out what resources and opportunities are available.
