Penwith Creative Writing Competition For Young People: Call for submissions
Deadline: Sat 31 Mar 2018
As part of Morrab Library’s 200th anniversary celebrations this year, they’ve organised a writing competition for younger people and students.

This year, as well as celebrating their history, they’re looking toward the library’s future – this inevitably leads to thinking about younger people and the local community.

The age range for the competition is 16-21 years and the theme is ‘Land’s end – a piece of creative writing reflecting contemporary life in Cornwall'. It is open to submissions of poetry, prose, fiction and non-fiction – with a word limit of 750, but no minimum.

There will be cash prizes with 1st, 2nd, 3rd – £100, £75, £50 and a year’s library membership for each winner.

The judges are local writers, Katrina Naomi, Des Hannigan & Linda Cleary (between them they’ve a wide range of experience – from travel writing to short stories and poetry).

How to apply:

Submissions marked ‘Morrab writing competition’ should be emailed to morrablibrary@hotmail.co.uk or posted to Morrab Library, Morrab Gardens, Penzance, TR18 4DA.

Closing deadline: 31 March 2018
