YorkMix Poems For Children Competition: Call for entries
Deadline: Sun 23 Jun 2019
Could you write a poem to amuse, excite or inspire children? Poems can be any length, on any topic, and for children of any age. The first prize is £250, with runner-up prizes of £100, £75 and £50. Our judge is Carole Bromley, poet in residence here at YorkMix.

This is an open competition. Entrants must be 18 or older. You may enter as often as you wish.

Entry fee: £5 to enter a single poem, £10 for three poems, or £15 for five poems.

Judge: Carole Bromley, a former winner of the prestigious Bridport Poetry Prize, has been a driving force behind York’s lively poetry scene for many years. Her children’s poems have appeared in, A Poem For Every Night Of The Year (MacMillan), Let In The Stars’ (MMU) and The Head That Wears A Crown (Emma Press). Her first collection for children, Blast Off!, was published by Smith/Doorstop in July 2017.

As Poet In Residence at YorkMix, Carole launched the first YorkMix Poetry Competition in 2013, acting as its judge for four years, and, in association with the York Literature Festival, helping to guide it into the elite of Britain’s poetry competitions.
