This summer, for the fifth in our successful series of Awakening The Writer Within retreats, we are in the beautiful city of York. Facilitators Clara Challoner Walker and Janet Dean aim to encourage and inspire new and developing writers to start something fresh or to make progress with an existing prose or poetry project.
We welcome people interested in all fiction genres, as well as creative non-fiction and poetry, and are delighted to be working with our partners York Explore Library and Archive who will host the retreat in their impressive building adjacent to York's stunning Museum Gardens.
Our programme includes:
Monday evening reception with guest local writers.
Tuesday morning 'behind the scenes at the Museum' with a curator from the Castle Museum in York hosted by York Museums Trust.
Tuesday afternoon, Wednesday and Thursday morning Clara and Janet will lead interactive workshops on People, Place and Plot.
One to one support as well as time to write in the Library or in an inspirational location like York's riverfront.
Thursday evening celebration dinner in the library at Rowntree Park, perfect for midsummer evening.

The full cost of tuition, visits, lunches and the welcome and celebration meals is £250 per person.
We can also offer historic tours and group meal bookings at additional costs on the free evenings if required. Participants are limited to 10 and with early bookings already in place we only have a small number of places left, so please reserve with a deposit as soon as possible.
