Our six-month courses specialise in the short story genre, and are delivered by a knowledgeable and esteemed writer in collaboration with ourselves
Over six workshops, you'll become familiar with short story narrative structures, and be able to apply them to your own work. Structured, peer-driven feedback and personalised tuition will contribute to your completion of three short stories.
We make our courses as accessible as possible: they span the UK and take place routinely throughout the year; you don't actually need any previous experience - just enthusiasm for short story writing; and you only need a pen, paper, laptop/computer, and internet access in order to upload your work, download others' submissions, and keep in contact.
We are always looking for new voices in short fiction, and it's hoped that our courses will unearth and develop contenders for one of our showcases of new writing.

About the Tutor
SJ Bradley is a writer from Leeds, UK, whose short fiction has been published widely in the US & UK, including in New Willesden Short Stories 7, and Litro magazine. She is the organiser behind Fictions of Every Kind and the Northern Short Story Festival. As an editor, she worked on the Remember Oluwale Writing Prize anthology, available now through Valley Press.

About the Tutor
Jude Brown is a Sheffield based short story writer. Her work has won numerous awards including the Raymond Williams Community Publishing Award, the Fish Microfiction Prize and in 2013 she won a New Writing North Award. Her short stories have been published in a range of anthologies and magazines, and she was shortlisted for Bridport Short Story Prize. She is currently working on her first novel.

About the Tutor
Michelle Green is an acclaimed poet-turned-short story writer, and a well-loved figure on the Manchester spoken word scene. In 2005 she won the North West Regional Poetry Slam, and has since performed across the UK, both solo and in collaboration with musicians and visual artists, at festivals such as the Big Chill, as well as on BBC Radio 4. She has published her poems and short stories in numerous magazines and anthologies (including Bitch Lit and City Secrets), and her first collection of poetry -
Knee High Affairs - was published by Crocus in 2006.
Jebel Marra is her first collection of fiction and is based on her own experience as an aid worker in Darfur.
Jebel Marra was shortlisted for the Saboteur Awards 2015 and was recently longlisted for the Polari First Book Prize 2016.

About the Tutor
Andy Hedgecock is a Nottinghamshire-based editor, writer, researcher and trainer. He had been selling articles and reviews for over 30 years when Comma Press challenged him to turn his hand to fiction. Andy has written for Time Out, Penguin City Guides, The Oxford Companion to English Literature, The Third Alternative, The Breaking Windows Anthology, The Morning Star, The Spectator, Short Fiction in Theory and Practice and the academic SF review Foundation. From 2006-2016 he was co-editor (fiction) of Interzone, Britain’s longest-running British sf magazine and 2013 winner of the British Fantasy Society Award for Best Magazine / Periodical. He also worked with the writers Claire Massey and Carys Bray to set up and edit Paraxis, an online publication the prolific and respect sf&f author Michael Moorcock described as an endeavour to “return the human imagination to the apex of the arts”.
