Novel Nights Workshop: The Hero’s Journey with Lucy English
Are you struggling with plot? Want to find the narrative arc within your story? In this afternoon workshop, we will explore the basic elements of this ancient narrative and see what we can learn about our own story lines
‘The Hero’s Journey’ is one of the oldest stories in human history.; a story of challenges, obstacles, rebirth and regeneration. It is embedded in our culture and represents how we understand the nature of story itself. Scriptwriters, novelists, and dramatists still use the hero’s journey to create compelling contemporary tales. .

The workshop will be run by Lucy English, Reader in Creative Writing at Bath Spa University. Lucy has three novels published by Fourth Estate. She is a spoken word poet and multimedia writer.

The workshop will be held at Ashton Court Mansion, a grade 1 listed building in parkland. After many years as a wedding venue, the council have leased the building to arts charity, ArtsSpace, who repurpose empty spaces. We’re delighted to bring creative writing into this space.
