School for Writers, The National Literacy Trust
Tue 26 Jun 2018 to Tue 10 Jul 2018
For many writers, engaging with children and young people is an integral part of their work and an opportunity to inspire the next generation of writers. School for Writers is a three-day training course for writers who want to engage with schools, libraries and cultural and community venues to deliver workshops for children and young people, being delivered in London, Bristol and Leeds.

The course will help you to increase your knowledge about schools, the curriculum and educational practices; develop the skills to deliver creative, relevant and engaging sessions for children and young people; and support you in establishing your offer, marketing and further opportunities for development.

In 2018, The National Literacy Trust will be delivering the course in London (June and July), Bristol (September) and Leeds (October).

There are 12 places available on the programme in each of the three locations. The programme has been subsidised by Arts Council England so that the cost of the training is £350 to participating writers (includes the three day training programme, training materials, lunch and refreshments on all three days and the opportunity to be matched with a local school to practise your workshop). Two bursary places available.

The dates for the course in London are: 26 June, 3 July, 10 July 2018. Application deadline: Friday 15 June 2018 at 5pm.

Further dates and deadlines to be announced shortly.

For further essential information, including full application details, please visit The National Literacy Trust’s website

The course has been developed in partnership by the National Literacy Trust, Arvon, BookTrust and The Reading Agency.
