The Schools Programme is a six week course including teacher CPD that will inspire children to write, encourage the sharing and develop of ideas and produce work of the highest quality
In collaboration with Cornwall College Camborne and funding from Arts Council England, Esmee Fairbairn Foundation, the Ernest Cook Trust, the Garfield Weston Foundation, Hall for Cornwall and Redrow, Kernow Education Arts Partnership (KEAP) has created a ground-breaking imagination space and writing programme to improve the writing confidence of children in Cornwall.
With innovation and creativity at its heart, the writing spaces inside The Writers’ Block have been developed by Cornish theatre makers and visual artists from Wildworks, Kneehigh Theatre, Tough Dough and The Story Republic.
The Writers’ Block has been created inside two disused classrooms and the renovation works have been carried out by carpenters and crafts students from the Built Environment faculty at Cornwall College Camborne.
As well as drawing upon Cornwall’s top theatrical minds, specialist educational consultants Rob Lane and Wyl Menmuir have been collaborating with KEAP’s team of writers and workshop leaders. Together, they have devised fresh and original approaches to writing that have inspired both teachers and participants.
