Writer’s Residency, Orkney Islands, Scotland

A self-directed residency providing uninterrupted periods of time in the unique environment of Scotland’s Orkney Islands, home to Tracy Mackenna, curator of The Museum of Loss and Renewal. Writers, scholars and researchers are welcome to apply.
A period in residence can provide you with the conditions to be up close to your work, allow nature to suffuse your thinking and feeling, produce new work or complete a project.
Your accommodation is ‘Robbie’s Hoose’, a historic getaway that was inhabited by the poet and conchologist Robert Rendall for its proximity to the shore and sea, shells and marine life. It occupies the site of Orkney’s historic Bishop’s Palace.
