Discover’s Creative Wellbeing School Programme aims to raise children's mental health awareness and to enhance literacy and oracy skills, enjoyment of stories, and confidence.
The project launches with a storytelling performance co-created by Discover and a professional artist, followed by a series of participatory, creative workshops in which pupils learn to recognise, explore and creatively express ideas related to mental wellbeing.
Teachers take part in digital Continuing Professional Development (CPD) sessions and the project ends with a showcase (either digital or in-person) for families, carers and the wider school community to celebrate participating pupils’ creativity and achievement.
The project will be delivered in three primary schools in East London between October 2021 and December 2021.
We are looking for an artist to co-develop the project’s creative concept, which will form the core part of the storytelling performance and associated arts workshops. This includes devising the story for the storytelling performance. In addition, this role will act as a lead facilitator on the project’s delivery in schools and digitally, working alongside Discover’s Story Builders.
We are keen to hear from artists from a range of art forms but experience in storytelling is essential.
Fee: £6,400 (£200 per day x 32 days).
