The Department of English at the University of Southampton is looking to appoint a full-time permanent Associate Professor in Creative Writing.
The successful candidate will be expected to lead on the strategic development of Creative Writing as a discipline in the University as the Director of Creative Writing, and to undertake publication and engagement activities that will develop the profile and impact of Creative Writing at Southampton at a city, regional, and national level.
They will be a published writer with a developing international profile as a practitioner in a field of Creative Writing, whether in prose (fiction or non-fiction), poetry, performance, scriptwriting or hybrid and cross-genre practices.
They will have a PhD in English, Creative Writing, a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience. Applications may be especially welcome from those whose work engages with interdisciplinary or experimental practice, digital media, visual culture, or sound and audio, and with a proven track record of publications in essay collections or articles in international peer-reviewed journals.
Experience of teaching and undergraduate and postgraduate level is an essential requirement.
