We are recruiting an experienced rap / spoken word facilitator with a background in youth or community work to deliver sessions to groups of young black men with mental health needs.
Raw Sounds is the mental health programme at music and media education charity Raw Material. The programme offers music and creative media sessions for people with mental health needs aged 16-65.
The Hood Mentality programme is a new initiative, steered by young black men aged 16-30, which will co-produce a constellation of activities to engage those living in Lambeth and Southwark with approaches that support mental well-being.
The facilitator will work with the Steering Group to devise a programme of 6 drop-in workshops, which will be repeated five times to different groups of young people, over an 18 month period.
The facilitator will work with a group of up to fifteen participants, supporting them to write original and meaningful lyrics. Sessions will focus on creative expression and confidence building, tackling challenging subjects and life experiences, with mental health literacy embedded into sessions.
Total project fee = £3,910
