BA Screenwriting is situated within the School of Arts and embedded within the Department of Theatre, Film and Media Production. Media related courses aligned to Screenwriting include; Animation, Digital Media Production, Film Production, Film Production with Television and Journalism.

The Screenwriting programme offers a wide variety of modules which currently includes TV writing, feature films, script editing and games’ narratives and this is an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to work alongside a collaborative, supportive and committed team of colleagues and significantly contribute to the delivery and development of a course that has continuing and growing links with industry

We are dedicated to exploring and developing the world of media narratives and storytelling and providing students the opportunity to find their voice and reach their creative potential as screenwriters. The School has strong links with the Royal Television Society and is home of the Stephen Knight Award for the best screenplay.

The preferred pedagogical approach across the School is to teach theory through practice and classes and workshops reflect this whilst encouraging students to work in a variety of different contemporary screen media.

It is expected that candidates will have expertise in one or more of the following areas:
Television writing
Feature film writing
Script editing
Screenwriting theory
Games’ narratives
Short film writing
