Professor of Creative Non-Fiction (Writing and Place), Manchester Metropolitan University
This senior appointment will help to drive the strategic development of the Centre for Place Writing: a new research centre that is based within the Department of English but which will connect with disciplines across the University as well as a diverse range of external partners.
You will play a key role in advancing Manchester Met’s reputation as an international centre of excellence for both creative and critical research on the relationship between writing and place.
Whilst the post and associated teaching will be located in the Department of English, the Centre for Place Writing has strong institutional links with place-based research across creative disciplines in the Manchester School of Art, in the Department of Geography and in Manchester Met’s Institute for Place Management.
We are open to applications from scholars whose research into place writing derives from disciplines other than English.
As well as holding a PhD, you will have an international profile for your creative, critical, or creative-critical research on the writing of place. You will also have an exceptional track-record of teaching and demonstrable leadership skills.
A proven ability to secure funding and to generate additional income streams is essential. You will also bring with you highly developed external networks.
