This is a fantastic role for someone with a literacy/charities background or for someone who has worked in the schools’ sector looking for an opportunity to contribute to a vibrant, growing charity that changes the lives of young people through writing.

As our Programme Officer in the North, you will:
• Set up and co-ordinate the day-to-day administration and logistics of the writing residency programme currently in Hull and Scunthorpe and develop across the wider region.
• Identify prospective eligible schools and writers, and work to cultivate strong relationships to ensure the organisation meets its delivery targets for the number of residencies in the region.
• Establish and build relationships with regional stakeholders.
• Deliver region-wide writing events for young people participating in First Story at a key cultural venue and region-wide CPD events for teachers and writers.
• Support the delivery of First Story’s national initiatives including competitions, the summer residential course in July, National Writing Day and the Young Writers’ Festival in September.
• Liaise with local media contacts and other partner organisations to promote the project more widely.
• Fulfil other responsibilities contributing to the strategic, national objectives and activities of the organization as required.
