Social Prescribing Project Coordinator, Arts 4 Dementia
Deadline: Mon 16 Sep 2019
Social Prescribing is an exciting non-pharmaceutical NHS development whereby GPs and their primary care link workers invite patients to choose re-energising social prescriptions – art, dance, music, drama, photography, poetry, wellbeing walks, horticulture – to help override anxiety, social isolation, ill health of all kinds.

Arts 4 Dementia recently held the first UK’s first conference on Social Prescribing to Arts & Heritage for Dementia (SPD). Our aim now is to achieve SPD to ease diagnosis.

Arts 4 Dementia invites applications for an experienced project co-ordinator, interested in the arts, good at research and a skilled communicator, to provide resourceful administrative support for our president, director of our social prescribing (SP) programme.

You will liaise with arts and health organisations, SP link workers, universities, for the launch of our pilot programmes networking fora in London and Manchester and  help research SP developments for dementia, for the resulting report publication and launch conference, September 2020.

Our SP programme aims to establish through a year-long series of arts programmes for people with a new diagnosis of dementia and companions, the infrastructure, key links and evidence necessary to sustain and enable SP to arts to be embedded into the diagnostic process for dementia.
