Teaching Associates for Creative Writing
Deadline: Sun 9 Jul 2017
The University of Cambridge Institute of Continuing Education is seeking to appoint three Teaching Associates to contribute to its flourishing and rapidly developing portfolio of award-bearing and short course creative writing programmes

The ideal candidates will be writers with an established record of publication who have broad experience of teaching creative writing at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. We seek applicants with experience in long and short form fiction, but also welcome applications from established writers of poetry, creative non-fiction and journalism, and those who write for screen (film and television), stage and radio.

The three positions are part-time (50% FTE) for a fixed term of two years in the first instance.

The successful applicants will have a proven track record of curriculum design and assessment in creative writing. They will have a student-centred approach to teaching and experience of supervising students from diverse backgrounds. They will be familiar with the latest developments in teaching creative writing, including online delivery, and will enjoy being part of a close-knit teaching team but will also be capable of leading courses and initiatives. Experience of teaching adults and mature students is desirable and a commitment to lifelong learning essential.

Ideally, they will have a higher degree, preferably a doctoral-level in a relevant specialist subject area, and a track record of recent publications. They will be committed to maintaining and developing knowledge of their own subject area.

They will have extensive connections in the world of publishing and academia and the ability to promote the Institute's reputation as a centre of excellence for teaching creative writing both in the UK and abroad.
