Ian Caithness
"Writing, like politics, is one of the few activities that is able to inspire, to infuriate and to cause debate. Writing is about a message - it's about ideas. The reason that literature will never cease to exist is because the world is based on ideas. It connects us and binds us with an energy unknown in this world, allowing us the opportunity to indulge in delusions of grandeur and fantasies of aspiration. This is what writing means. It's an opportunity, an idea that represents everything - the good, the bad and the terrible."
Biography:
Ian was born in Dover in 1990 and has lived in Hartlepool and Sleaford before moving to Hull to study for an undergraduate degree in English. He began his first experience of writing as a child when he was writing short poems that were never published. At the age of sixteen, Ian became interested in digital rights, social media and how literary industries would be changed by emerging technologies. Since that time, he has gone on to write his own personal blog, Cynic Reviews, and writing for the University of Hull's student newspaper, Hullfire. He is currently seeking opportunities to gain experience in the journalism profession.
