An experimental poetry workshop looking at the Wandle’s waters for material and inspiration.
Using as inspiration selected field recordings, photographs and objects collected along the river, participants will also learn a variety of experimental strategies to create work – from automatic writing, and cut-up to erasure and folding techniques. Working together and independently, participants will create sonic and concrete (visual) poems, incorporating images, onomatopoeic words and invented languages within their works to trace, invoke and transform the sounds, shapes and textures of the waters.
No experience of writing poetry is necessary though a willingness to collaborate and read poems allowed is essential. All materials will be supplied during the session.
Date: 29 October, 12 - 3pm
Venue: Tbc
Cost: Free but booking is essential
