Take Your Time to Write
Wed 14 Jan 2009
We are delighted to announce the next NAWE Retreat, which will be hosted by Ty Newydd, the National Writers' Centre for Wales, 25-30 May 2009.

This week's retreat for NAWE members marks a new partnership with NAWE and will provide unstructured time to recharge your batteries. It will help redress the balance between working in education and developing your career as a writer.  The week is a retreat, not a taught course, and writers will be expected to help with catering.  Everyone will get a room to themselves.  The venue has good access for people with disabilities.  If you require more information on this issue, please contact Anne Caldwell.

Guest writer - Poet Alicia Stubbersfield - One day kick start workshops for prose writers and poets, with an evening reading.

Comment from last year's NAWE retreat:

'I have got more writing done in this week than at any other time of year and the company was fantastic.'

To book a place, please email Anne Caldwell for a booking form.

Fees £255 NAWE members (a few places for people on a low income at £180)

Please book early as places go quickly, and note that the Retreat is in the Spring Bank Holidays.

Ty Newydd

Ty Newydd is the National Writers' Centre for Wales, supported by the Arts Council of Wales and run by the Taliesin Trust Ltd, a registered charity. It operates in close collaboration with Arvon.

Ty Newydd was once the home of Lloyd George. Situated in North Wales, about twenty-five miles from Bangor, it stands in landscaped gardens with fine views over Cardigan Bay and towards the mountains of Meirionydd. It is very easy to get to by public transport.

Note: Arrangements can be made for people to be picked up from Porthmadog and Cricieth. We also meet people at Bangor station but due to the distance involved, a small charged has to be made.

The centre had been closed for extensive repair and refurbishment and reopened in April 2006 with new facilities and disabled access.
