Are you a seriously promising Black playwright, or Black theatre practitioner who has written a play that has been professionally produced? If you are, Eclipse Theatre invites you to take part in a two-week writers' residency...
The 2-week course will be at Nottingham Playhouse from 23rd - 31st October and 17th - 20th November 2003, for 10 professional up and coming Black British playwrights to develop their craft.

The laboratory is aimed at encouraging Black British playwrights to develop bigger plays for bigger spaces. The main emphasis will be: - what is possible on Middle Scale Theatre?

The course is open to any Black British playwright or Black British practitioner who has written a play that has been produced; or Black British practitioner who has worked in the theatre industry for the last 5 years and written a full length stage play. Minimum age for entry 18.

Closing date for applications is Friday 19th September 2003. Successful applicants will be notified within 4 weeks of the closing date. Please note that due to anticipated volume of scripts being entered, if your script does not meet the above criteria it will be returned.

The course will be run by Kully Thiarai Artistic Director of Leicester Haymarket and Esther Richardson Theatre Writing Director.
