Writer in Residence, HMP Leeds

Leeds Libraries & Information Services, in partnership with the Prison Writers Network and HMP Leeds are seeking to recruit a writer to work with inmates at HMP Leeds over a period of 12 months.
The writer will be based in the Education Department at HMP Leeds. The residency is expected to contribute to positive communications and self-expression within the prison, delivering the following main activities:

a. Working with drama tutors to encourage one-to-one and groupwork to create a series of "Talking Heads" monologues for performance and/or film.
b. The development of other creative writing sessions and workshops
c. The collecting, editing and collating of writing from inmates into three editions of a prison magazine.
d. The encouragement of reader development using the prison library as a focus.
e. The development of an infrastructure to continue the prison magazine once the residency has ended.
f. The encouragement of staff participation and opportunities for their development.
