NAWE Conference and AGM
Thu 15 Oct 2009
Our conference booking closes today and accommodation is already sold out. If you still wish to book as a day delegate, or would like to know about alternative accommodation, please contact us as soon as possible. Meanwhile, we are now inviting nominations for the Management Committee, ahead of the AGM which takes place on the first day of the conference.

Following our Extraordinary General Meeting and online ballot, we are pleased to confirm that the proposed changes to the Management Committee Structure and Election process have been approved.

We are therefore now in the process of electing a new Committee to stand for the year commencing from our AGM on Friday 13 November 2009 (within the NAWE Conference). Voting will take place online (within the Members' Area), enabling every member to vote, not just those attending the AGM. Voting will open on Friday 30 October and close on Wednesday 11 November. The results will be confirmed at the AGM.

As a NAWE member you may put yourself forward for election by completing the downloadable Nomination Form (above right) and choosing a preferred role from the list below. You may also state other areas of interest/expertise from the list - or beyond.

Completed forms should be returned to Paul Munden by the end of Monday 26 October.

Available roles:

Chair; Vice Chair; and representatives of writing within: Primary Education; Secondary Education; Further Education; Higher Education; Adult & Continuing Education; writing in the community. There will also be an 'open' category.

A maximum of twelve members shall be elected.

NB: The elected committee may co-opt further members to fill any role which is vacant, provided co-options shall come to an end at the next AGM, when elections will again apply to any vacant positions.

Those elected shall serve for three years. After this period, Committee members shall stand down, but are eligible for re-election. An elected member may be asked to stand down if s/he misses 3 meetings within a year without input to the proceedings or special leave of absence.
