Teachers' Scholarships for Creative Writing Study

The first round of successful bids to the Government’s new £2 million scholarship scheme for teachers was announced on 13 December.
Ministers have announced the first round of successful bids to the scholarship scheme for teachers. There were almost 2000 applications for the scholarships which were worth up to £3,500 each.
 
671 Scholarships were awarded in round one. 280 scholarships were awarded for teachers working in priority subjects – English (143), maths (79) and science (58) and 391 scholarships for special educational needs (SEN) teachers.
 
The majority of awards for the priority subjects were made for Masters level activities. Examples in Maths and Science included: Advanced specialist Mathematics; post graduate module in analytical number theory; and an MSC in Science and Education. English activities included: MA in creative writing; MEd in applied linguistics; and MA in English language. The DfE hope to announce the details of round two in the coming months.
