A new magazine is calling for budding writers to contribute articles and short stories.
Vintage Script – which showcases writing on historical themes – is looking for material for its first edition, due to be published in the spring. Editor Emma Louise Oram, from Kirk Merrington near Spennymoor, says: “We are looking for writing on any subject, as long as it’s historical. It could be a factual article on fashion or architecture or even stories you’ve uncovered in your family tree. We are also interested in original short stories set in any period in history.”
Vintage Script is also running a short story competition with cash prizes. The deadline for submissions for both the spring edition and the short story competition is 14 March. For more information, see
www.vintagescript.co.uk.
Have you got a passion for retro fashion, the Victorians maybe, or even medieval architecture? Or have you been researching your family tree and have found some skeletons in the closet you’d like to share with us? Maybe you have lived through an interesting period in history and can tell us your memories?
We are looking for short stories and articles that are original and well-written, and must be on an historical theme. Short stories and longer articles should be no longer than 2,500 words. We are also interested in shorter articles of 500-1,000 words. Contributions should not have been published elsewhere.
We are a small organisation and just starting out, so we are unable to offer payment. However, if your short story or article is selected for publication you will receive a free copy of the edition of Vintage Script in which your piece appears (or a refund to the value of one copy of the magazine if you have already subscribed) and the chance to see your name in print…so get scribbling!
Please use double-line spacing in your submission.
Please email your submission to vintagescript@fsmail.net and mark the subject line Short story or Article.
The deadline for the spring edition is 14 March 2011.
