Just Words is an inspiring new on-line resource for young writers aged 13 – 18

Just Words is an inspiring new online resource for young writers aged 13 – 18. The site, which has been developed by New Writing South in consultation with a group of young people, is a new way for young writers to network nationally and share writing.

Ellie, 14, said: ‘I happily signed up to Just Words last night... I love it! I posted some work and read others. They were so inspiring!’

Just Words enables young writers to set up a writer profile, upload their creative work and feedback on other writers’ work. Writers supporting the website and offering their expert advice include novelist Stella Duffy, Portsmouth Poet Laureate KeliAnne B, and Times journalist Damian Barr.

15 year old Sophie said: ‘the website has been really good and getting feedback for my writing has been really encouraging.’

Just Words is also a forum for New Writing South Writer Squads, groups of young writers who meet regularly with professionals from NWS Creative Learning Team at creative partner venues. The initiative is being piloted throughout the south east but plans to role out the project out further are in place. Writer Squads are run in partnership with New Theatre Royal, Portsmouth; The Berry Theatre, Hedge End; Margate Theatre Royal and The School Creative Centre, Rye.
