We are pleased to be publishing further resources commissioned as part of this ongoing project in Scotland, supporting the careers of writing graduates. The resources are available here as PDFs for downloading. They include:

Rich text: A guide for poets publishing their work in ezines by Chris McCabe

A series of six articles by poets Ken Cockburn, Margot Henderson, Kate Hendry, Elspeth Murray, Liz Niven and J.L. Williams on keeping the creative flame alive. They make for really thought-provoking reading, of interest to all writers wherever they are in their writing journey.

In April 2011, over 60 graduates from Scotland’s Creative Writing Masters and PhD programmes gathered together with early career writers at the CCA for an action-packed day of workshops and panel sessions exploring ways of making a living as a writer and looking at the realities of being published and produced today.

Resources from the day are available to download here so if you weren’t able to come to the day, you won’t miss out.
  • Boosting your income with freelance journalism by Fiona Gibson
  • Text Sells! Writing for Business by Jules Horne
  • Writing in the Community: Making Workshops Work by Drew Campbell
  • Your Book Needs You! Busting the Myths of Promotion by Sara Sheridan
  • Yes I Can! (Powerpoint presentation) by Linda Cracknell
The Writer’s Compass (NAWE) was asked to organize this event by Creative Scotland, the major funder of the day. We were delighted to be able to work in partnership with CCA, Glasgow Life, Gutter and Scottish Book Trust.
