The Big Idea Competition offers members of the public (aged 13+) the brilliant opportunity to partner with an established author to turn a great idea into a children's book (and potentially a film, play or video game). It's run by children's story specialists Chicken House Publishing and The Blair Partnership.
All it takes is a lightbulb moment and 500-750 words outlining the idea! The 2014 competition winners included an engineer and an Egyptology student, whose ideas (one about the first air balloon flight and the other about Fandoms) have just been turned into children's books by Chicken House - it just shows that great ideas can come from anywhere!
Prizes:
1 Winner will receive £1000 in cash and the promise that their idea will become the inspiration for a complete story written by a successful children’s author, and be published as a book. The winner will be named alongside the author and offered an agreed royalty on every book sold. Plus, their story will be presented for TV, film, theatre and more.
5 Runners-Up will also win a £1000 cash prize and the chance of seeing their ideas turned into a book, TV, film or more.
