The refining fire: This tutored retreat offers direction and specific guidance in the process of writing and revising poems.
The emphasis is on developing both the imaginative force and the formal execution of your poetry in the context of best contemporary practice. It is geared towards poets who have already mastered the basics of the craft and will reward those who are seeking – and perhaps finding – publication.
After booking on the course, participants are invited to submit up to six poems. If you wish to submit poems in advance please email them to lumbbank@arvon.org by 9 September 2017.
Course tutors: Kathryn Maris, Maurice Riordan
Guest: Tom Sleigh
Kathryn Maris’s poetry collections include The Book of Jobs and God Loves You. Her poems have appeared in The Best British Poetry, The Pushcart Prize Anthology and many periodicals in the US and the UK.
Maurice Riordan’s books include The Water Stealer and The Holy Land. He edits The Poetry Review and is Professor of Poetry at Sheffield Hallam.
