Big Lit is Galloway's boutique Book Festival based in the beautiful town of Gatehouse of Fleet which takes place from 19 to 22 April 2018. A packed programme celebrates 100 years of women’s suffrage and the centenary of WW1 with Ajay Close’s suffragette-inspired novel ‘A Petrol Scented Spring’ and some unexpected war verse from Robert W Service.
We have music, song, Edinburgh Fringe First winning theatre and a tutu-wearing writer who's been entertaining troops overseas!
Our young persons' strand is spearheaded by writer Chrissie Gittins who will entertain children accompanied by a bossy beetroot, a very cute newt and a jar full of stars.
Whether it be Bards for Breakfast, ukuleles, launches, a magical interactive trail, a guided walk, politics, poetry and prose, the heady letters of Samuel Rutherford, guerrilla poetry or a trip on a random tandem you are bound to find something to tickle your literary fancy.
