Building a Web Presence with Kristen Harrison
Sat 29 Nov 2014 to Sat 29 Nov 2014
The aim of the session is to help you understand how to build your own online presence successfully and to suit your needs and ability, using Kristen’s tips and tricks

Following the success of web guru Kristen Harrison’s sold-out workshop earlier this year, TLC is re-running ‘Building a Web Presence’, this time as a full-day class with an additional practical afternoon session. The aim of the session is to help you understand how to build your own online presence successfully and to suit your needs and ability, using Kristen’s tips and tricks.

This session has been designed for writers at all levels and will look at examples of successful websites, social media integration and existing writers’ blogs, and will cover cover:

  • Visual Language: Understanding how to present yourself in a visual world.
  • Spring Clean your Web Presence: What footprints have you left online already and how can we tidy those up and make the most of them?
  • Websites and Blogs: How to plan, build/commission and manage a website or blog and get some great ideas from other blogs that have been successful.
  • Social media: How to make the most of your social media presence, including half-hour sessions dedicated to both Twitter and Facebook.

Whether you’re interested in traditional or self-publishing models, you’ll get straightforward, impartial advice on everything from how to go about setting up a website, selecting the right cover for your book, and finding your way around social media, including Facebook, Twitter and blog pages, in order to boost your presence and market yourself and your writing in the digital field.

There will be time for a mini web surgery at the end, for trouble-shooting specific problems you may have and addressing any questions about being a writer in a digital space, and how to maximise your own potential in this setting.
