Creative Writing for Therapeutic Purposes Masters course enrolling now for September 2023
Wed 13 Sep 2023 to Mon 7 Jul 2025
This unique Masters (MSc) with Metanoia Institute London, accredited by Middlesex University, is for people fascinated by writing and its many applications. Study part-time at weekends (7 live online and 3 in person in Bristol UK per year).

Study involves writing in diverse forms, conversation, theory and reflexive discussion. Students develop as writers, designers of sessions and facilitators in a stimulating group setting. A reflexive, exploratory and sometimes playful approach is taken to exploring the possibilities of ‘writing’ and ‘therapeutic’ and assignments include creative portfolios, essays and presentations.

Tutors have top-quality expertise and this qualification, now in its twelfth year, is the only one of its kind and attracts UK and international students.

Graduates work in fields of writing, the arts, education, health and social care, museums, prisons and many other domains with this creative therapeutic method.

‘The Metanoia course in CWTP has more than fulfilled my hope that it would equip me to develop a sound therapeutic writing practice, it has also been a powerful catalyst for my own creative writing: poetry, fiction and memoir have flowed with greater freedom and invention than ever before. Above all, the programme has introduced me to a community of like-minded scholar-practitioners whose support and friendship I deeply value.’ Geoff Mead, graduate
