How to… Write Fiction with Wendy Ann Greenhalgh
Thu 8 May 2014 to Thu 29 May 2014
If you’ve always wanted to write a novel or short story, these four workshops will introduce you to the key techniques for writing fiction

Over four weeks you’ll develop your writing skills through classroom writing exercises and learn the core techniques for successful fiction through reading examples of great stories and tutor led discussion. There’ll be a chance to get some feedback about your own writing in class too.

Week 1: How to write … Plot and Character
Explore the relationship between plot and character and learn about narrative and character arcs.

Week 2: How to write … Show and Tell
Discover the art of showing not telling – avoid exposition and bring your fictional world to life.

Week 3: How to write … Voice and Point of View
Experiment with 1st and 3rd person storytelling and distinct voices for narration.

Week 4: How to write … Dialogue
Make your characters jump from the page with lively, believable dialogue.
