Launching Ty Newydd courses for 2024

We are delighted to launch Dy Bennod Nesaf – Your Next Chapter, our new programme of creative writing courses and retreats at Ty Newydd Writing Centre to help bring your stories and ideas to life in 2024.

Whether you’ve been enchanted by a previous visit to Ty Newydd and are longing for Tony’s legendary hummus or you’re looking forward to your first trip to this charming Centre and its stunning surroundings, our carefully curated programme offers an eclectic combination to appeal to writers of all ages, experience levels and backgrounds.

Choose from over 30 courses, including a full and exciting range of weekend, day-long and Monday to Friday courses, available in English, Welsh or bilingually. These courses include:
• Songwriting
• Poetry masterclass
• Writing fiction for young people
• Nature writing
• Food writing
• Historical fiction
• Crime fiction
• Digital detox retreat
• Welsh-language yoga and writing retreat
• Writing and wild swimming

You will benefit from the expertise and guidance of our 2024 tutors, who include former National Poet of Wales, Gillian Clarke, co-founder of Ty Newydd as a National Writing Centre in 1990. Other award-winning tutors providing immersive workshops, readings, and bespoke tutoring include Manon Steffan Ros, whose Blue Book of Nebo was translated from Welsh and won the Carnegie Medal; National Poet of Wales and 2022-2023 Hay International Fellow Hanan Issa; Booker Prize-nominated Sophie Mackintosh and performance storyteller Phil Okwedy.

The Dy Bennod Nesaf – Your Next Chapter programme runs from March to December 2024.
