London Lit Lab: Continuing to write post-MA
Mon 16 Oct 2017 to Sun 14 May 2017
Are you reaching the end of a creative writing MA, or have you completed one in the last three years? Would you like some help getting your manuscript finished and taking the next steps towards publication

Getting through the final stretch on your manuscript can be tough when seminars end and support from university tutors is no longer available. We know this is a common difficulty for creative writers coming out of MA courses, and we want to help you keep up your writing momentum, with the aim of finding a home for your finished book.

Starting in October 2017, we’ll be hosting monthly evening workshops for writers who have recently finished their creative writing MA, to help them work towards completing their manuscript.

Members will take turns to share work-in-progress ahead of each workshop, which will then be critiqued during the session, with constructive feedback and discussion on any problems or issues raised. We’ll also arrange occasional guest speakers such as agents, writers or editors, to help group members break into the industry.

This eight-month workshop-based course is for writers who are currently completing a creative writing MA, or have finished one in the last few years.

Whether you are writing a novel, short stories or memoir, including genre or YA fiction, you are welcome to join this course.

Tutor: the London group will be chaired by Zoe Gilbert of London Lit Lab. Zoe has chaired the North London Writers Group and her own short story critique group for many years, as well as teaching and mentoring writers at London Lit Lab. She is currently completing a creative writing PhD on folk tales in new fiction, and her book, Folk, will be published by Bloomsbury in February 2018. You can read more about her here.

Group members will also have the option of receiving one-to-one support or critical feedback, at an extra fee, from either Zoe Gilbert or Lily Dunn. Lily will be hosting similar workshops outside of London.
