Master Twitter in a Day
Sat 15 Nov 2014 to Sat 15 Nov 2014
How to create and maintain your writer platform online, in a way that works for you

Go from nought to sixty with Twitter in a day!  What works and what doesn’t on Twitter? How do you connect with the right people? Is anyone really listening? Come and find out the answers to these questions and more. By the end of the day you’ll have all the ideas, tools and tactics you need to master Twitter.

Forget about what you had for breakfast or endless ‘buy my book’ announcements. Twitter is a wonderful tool for writers to connect with their audiences – readers, potential readers, publishers, agents, commissioning editors, journalists, event organisers and other writers.

Come and learn:

  • the essentials: how to ‘decode’ a tweet, the difference between private and public tweets, Twitter etiquette, secrets of an effective profile, how and what to tweet, who to follow and how to get followers.
  • insider tips & useful tools:  how to make the most of lists, Twitter search, favourites, dashboards and more.
  • best practice: your Twitter ‘persona’, frequency and scheduling of tweets, integrating it with the rest of your online presence.

Throughout the day we’ll be talking about common issues such as how to stay focused on your goals and how to find the time for social media. We’ll look at live examples and be doing ‘hands-on’ search, tweeting and profile tweaking.

You’ll come away with a fresher-looking profile, armed with new ideas, new tools and techniques, a sustainable Twitter action plan and a renewed focus on why Twitter matters for writers.

This is not a technology session. To maximise the amount of time available, attendees should arrive with a Twitter account already set up, even if they haven’t started tweeting yet. (It’s advisable to bring your own laptop, or tablet if you prefer.)
