Weetwood Writers and Dead Ink team up to bring you an evening of workshops and readings
Words @ Weetwood
Monthly meet for writers and readers
16th May 2012: Flash Fiction Night
7-9pm
Weetwood Hall
Flash-fiction is a form of short form fiction, where the composition is restricted by number of words, or the time it takes to write. It could be poetry or prose, it could be delivered on paper, via text message, or twitter, or even geo-tagged and left “in the cloud” for future readers to stumble across and read when they’re at the same location. It can be on any topic, or a topic given as part of the Flash Fiction challenge. So come along and have a go!
We’ve arranged this event to celebrate National Flash Fiction Day, so there are lots of competitions and opportunities to be published for any fiction written on the night!
- Hear the Dead Ink Books Competition short-list read aloud, and the winner will be revealed.
- Bring pen, paper and your mobile phone/tablet
- “On the spot” flash fiction competition with prizes J
- Twitter/text poetry & Flash-Mobbing
This is the first of our monthly “Words @ Weetwood” get-togethers for readers and writers run by the Weetwood Writers.
Weetwood Writers is a brand new writers group, launching a new programme of events this Summer 2012, and we’re actively looking for new writers. Our aim is to create opportunities to get your writing published, heard or performed, and to live life as writers, attending and creating events to inspire and support our writing. We meet fortnightly on Sundays 10.30-12.30 in The Conservatory at Weetwood Hall, and on Wednesdays 7-9 in the Conference Centre for weekly workshops and monthly “Words @ Weetwood” open events. Come join us, and let’s get published!
Dead Ink Books publish the best new poetry and prose by contemporary authors across the UK. They are supported by Arts Council England, and distribute literature through apps, E-books and online.
