Playmaker: Football Writing Creative Workshop
Thu 10 Aug 2017 to Thu 10 Aug 2017
Come and join in with the National Football Museum’s fun and creative football writing workshop, led by one of our favourite children’s authors

Matt Oldfield is one of the brothers behind the Football Heroes series of books, which chart the rise of some of the world’s best players, including Gareth Bale, Eden Hazard and Wayne Rooney.

Matt will be helping kids create their own football stories, describing the first goals of their fictional superstars. Did the ball rocket into the top corner, or skid low past the goalkeeper? How many players were beaten during a mazy run towards the box? Was it a fantastic free kick or the perfect penalty?

Children will find out what they need to know about their hero, learn how to use words creatively, and share their accounts of spectacular, net-bursting goals. Participants can also make their very own footballing posters to take home!

The sessions last no longer than an hour, and are perfect for children aged between 7 and 12 who are keen to bring some football flair to their writing.
