The day will be led by poet Vahni Capildeo and lexicographers at Oxford University Press. Digital and paper resources will be provided along with lunch and refreshments.

There is no charge for this day which is being provided by Oxford University Press and The Poetry Archive as part of their Poetry by Heart partnership.

This CPD day has been designed primarily for an audience of teachers of secondary English but we are holding three places for NAWE members who can show particular interest in Poetry by Heart or in exploring the connections between poetry, language and dictionaries.

NAWE members will have priority for any booking made before  Monday 10th June. To register your interest now please contact us at info@Poetrybyheart.org.uk or phone 0117 905 5388.

The Oxford Day details

This is an opportunity to participate in a CPD study day focused on poetry, language and dictionaries. It will provide an excellent opportunity to explore the connections between poetry, language and dictionaries in ways which will support teacher and student learning. The day will be relevant to GCSE and GCE Advanced level courses in English Language, English Literature, and English Language and Literature, the International Baccalaureate and the new AQA GCE Creative Writing. We hope it will be an interesting and enriching day not limited to public examination outcomes.

Please Note: Following the recent renewal of the public libraries agreement with OUP, all UK residents can enjoy free 24/7 access to the online editions of The Oxford English Dictionary (OED) and the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography (ODNB) from any web-connected computer as part of their individual public library subscription.
