Power Plant: Writing Narratives for Young People
Sat 25 Apr 2015 to Sat 25 Apr 2015
Children's fiction, in particular work for young adults, is booming, but how do we writers do it? How does a 25-year old write for contemporary teens?

How does a 50-year old make a solid connection with the under-10s? Is it really all about dystopian futures peopled by vampires?

This session dives into the world of children's publishing, with tips and exercises that explore the Do's and Don'ts of writing for young people. With creative games to get your imagination leaping, and your brain and heart working together, Steve Tasane will cover everything from gritty urban teen fiction to cuddly bears with a penchant for marmalade.

A published novelist and performance poet himself, this session will demonstrate how to bridge the gap between narrative fiction and the immediacy of spoken word.
