What to do with a first draft
Sun 29 Nov 2015 to Sun 29 Nov 2015
Written a first draft but not sure what to do with it? Fear not… Brighton Writers Retreat and award-winning author Jo Gatford are here to help!

Venture into the world of redrafting and editing with a comprehensive workshop on how to transform a rough first draft into a polished, finished manuscript!

Let’s face it: first drafts are meant to be a bit crap. That’s why they’re called first drafts. When faced with the next step, many writers feel disheartened and overwhelmed – some may even give up completely – but when you approach the redrafting process with a creative attitude and a set of practical editing skills, it can be the most exciting part of writing a novel.

During this hands-on workshop you will learn about developing structure, plotting techniques, characterisation, and different approaches to editing, as well as having the opportunity to discuss and brainstorm your plot with a small group of writers. By the end of the session you should have a solid plan for your next draft and the resources you need to get your manuscript to the submission stage!

Whether you’ve bashed out a rough draft during NaNoWriMo or have been working on the same novel for a decade – bring your first draft along to our new workshop and let us help you beat it into shape.
