Boat Poets 2018: Call for poets
Deadline: Fri 27 Apr 2018
Boat Poets is an exciting new Arts Council England funded residency opportunity for poets aged 18-25 in the London, Bristol and Plymouth areas to spend time on board a boat on your local river or harbour.

Rivers hold the stories of our cities, industry, travel, geography, nature and much more. But what is your experience of your local river and the people who live and work on and around it?

Access to the boats will provided by captains and skippers working on board, giving you a unique experience of the waterways. You will create new work inspired by these residencies, whilst being given paid time, space and support to explore your craft and work in new ways.

During your residency you will have the opportunity to engage in workshops and mentoring sessions to support the development of your work. We will also support you to develop your new work into a live performance and/or short film.

Who can apply?

Any practising poets aged 18 – 25 and resident in either London, Bristol or Plymouth can apply. Your residency will take place in and around your local city. We particularly encourage applications from poets who consider themselves to be of a Black or Minority Ethnic group, and poets living in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham.
