Inspired by the work of the American novelist Henry David Thoreau, and taking his provocation, “we are not where we are, but in a false position”, Theatre Absolute will be commissioning writers over the next two years to create work that tells both national and international stories within the landscape of our ongoing 21st century European and global experience.

The commissions will be realised in a variety of forms including monologue, short form plays* and devised ensemble work.

All commissions will be premiered at the Shop Front Theatre, Coventry during 2017 – 2018.
