Derelict Festival Writers Programme
Deadline: Wed 1 Apr 2015
Are you keen to write about live performance but not sure how to get started? Are you already writing about performance but would appreciate some feedback and advice?

In association with theatre/pop critic Maddy Costa, Derelict is setting up a writing team to blog throughout the festival. You'll be invited to choose how you want to respond to the work that you see: you can write a review, create a comic strip or a game in twine, use the work as the springboard for a poem or the basis of a story. During the week, you'll be able to work with Maddy as a remote editor, then meet for a workshop on Saturday 18th April.

Derelict is produced by North West performance company Angel Club (north) and is currently programmed by their Programmer, Catherine Shaw. Our Spring 2015 season sees us stepping out of the studio and into the city for Derelict Sites; a public festival of performance in unusual spaces in Preston (11th-19th April)

Artists include: Greg Wohead, Drunken Chorus, Lowri Evans, Angel Club (north), Krissi Musiol, Hunt and Darton, Search Party, Action Hero and more.

Supported using public funding through Arts Council England and the University of Central Lancashire.

Maddy Costa is a writer, crafter, dreamer and mum based in London. She writes about theatre and music for the Guardian, Exeunt, and her blog Deliq. She ran a writing programme at In Between Time Festival in 2013 and created IBT15's digital project Gathering Storm. She is also critic-in-residence of Chris Goode & Company, co-curates Dialogue with Jake Orr, and is associate artist of Something Other.

Experience as a writer isn't necessary but would be useful; a passion for live performance, and an interest in capturing that experience for a digital readership, are essential. To apply, please send a statement of interest (no more than 400 words) and any questions about the writing programme to Josh Coates at joshuajcoates[at]gmail.com. Deadline is Wednesday 1st April 12:00pm
