St Magnus International Festival, Orkney's annual midsummer celebration of the arts, is one of Britain's most highly regarded and adventurous arts events

Each year it delivers a unique combination of world-class performance, community participation of the highest quality and the magic of Orkney at midsummer to attract audiences from throughout Britain and further afield. Though musical events are at the heart of the artistic programme, the Festival also encompasses drama, dance, literature and the visual arts. Interwoven with the Festival there are courses for young professional composers, conductors, singers and writers.

The Festival is now ready to embark on its next stage of transition and growth and to ensure its continuing success; it is recruiting a full-time Festival Administrator to work with the small team of paid staff and over 250 volunteers. The successful applicant will be a highly organised individual with excellent administrative skills. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive administrative and organisational support to the Festival including its four courses
  • Develop effective systems of office management and provide administrative support for the Festival Manager, Artistic Director, Festival Board and Volunteers.
  • Relevant experience & qualifications:
  • Demonstrable experience in event, festival or concert administration
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate volunteers and work with a broad range of people
  • Excellent administrative and IT skills including MS Office
  • Ability to work to a high standard under pressure to ensure deadlines are met.

Salary: circa £18-£20k depending on experience
