Fiction Writer in Residence
Deadline: Fri 17 Feb 2012
The School of English Literature, Language and Linguistics, wishes to appoint Writer in Residence specialising in fiction

Colleagues in the School of English Literature, Language and Linguistics are known for their international-quality research in English Literature, Theatre and Performance, Creative Writing, Applied Linguistics, Literary Linguistics, Cultures of the British Isles and English Language. And much of this activity is passed onto students through our research-led approach to learning and teaching.

The successful candidate will teach modules at undergraduate and Master of Arts (MA) level, to help supervise PhD students and to help run the MA in Creative Writing. The School of English aims to recruit an established novelist with proven skills and experience in the above areas, with a strong record of published works, and preferably with experience of public engagement.

You should have experience of course leadership in Creative Writing and have relevant first and postgraduate degrees, and preferably have or be close to completing a PhD in creative writing English or a related subject area, (or have equivalent experience) as well as proven teaching ability. Experience of outreach and public engagement would be highly desirable for this position.
