Quay Words Summer 2024 Family Activity Commission
Deadline: Sun 31 Mar 2024
Are you a storyteller, performer or writer with a unique way to share a love of words with audiences? We are looking to commission a drop-in summer activity for our Quay Words July 2024 season.

In previous years, we’ve had brilliant story tellers, theatre-makers and unique site-specific activities such as Beth Calverley’s Poetry Machine and Sally Crabtree’s Sweetshop of Words.

The dates can be agreed with the commissioned artist, but we’d be interested in a weekend in July, or July date(s) at the beginning of the school holidays.

The commissioned performance or activity should be something that can draw in passers-by, is easy to take part in quickly without booking, and inspires and excites the imagination. Our theme for the summer season is ‘Vessels’, which you are welcome to respond to if it sparks your interests, but it’s not essential to do so.

We’re looking for something family-friendly that will draw audiences to the Custom House and be a first point of contact for participants with our Quay Words programme.

We have a fee of £700 for the commission, plus some expenses for travel and accommodation if needed.

Please send us your expression of interest to quaywords@literatureworks.org.uk by Sunday 31st March 2024.
