Discover Children’s Story Centre is a creative literacy centre for children aged 0-11 years and their families, carers and teachers

We offer a variety of programmes including schools workshops, family art activities, a literature programme led by children’s writers and illustrators and community and education projects, and welcome over 80,000 visitors a year to the Centre.

Story Builders are our facilitating staff who work with family and schools audiences, storytelling, engaging through play and delivering craft and arts events at Discover and externally.

We are looking for creative, enthusiastic and experienced facilitators to work with families and schools. If you have experience working creatively with young children and enjoy working as part of a team this could be the job for you.

Vacancies are as follows:

1. Casual Story Builder
Contract: Fixed-term for 6 months April-September 2015, immediate start
Pay: £9.25 per hour
Hours: 9.15-17.30 day (7 hour 15 min shift + 1 hour unpaid break) on a rota basis weekend and public holiday availability essential. Short shifts also available.
Interviews: Tuesday 28 April 2015 (includes a group workshop)

2. Part-time Story Builder 
Contract: Fixed-term for 6 months April-September 2015, immediate start
Pay: £9.25 per hour
Hours: 21.75 hours per week on a 9.15-17.30 day (7 hour 15 min shift + 1 hour unpaid break) weekend and public holiday availability essential – this role covers the majority of weekend days plus one additional week day this is on a fixed rota pattern.
Interviews: Friday 01 May 2015

3. Full-time Story Builder
Contract: Permanent full time, immediate start
Pay: £17,436 per annum (£9.25 per hour)
Hours: 5 days per week on a 9.15-17.30 day (7 hours 15 min shift + 1 hour unpaid break) on a rota basis, weekend and public holiday availability essential.
Interviews: Friday 01 May 2015

Successful candidates will be offered contracts according to the post applied for. All Discover staff need to have a current valid DBS check or be able to submit to an enhanced DBS disclosure in line with Discover Policy.
