Sessions will take place on Saturday mornings and each session will be split to accommodate writers aged between 13-17 years from 9.00am-10.45am, and writers aged 18-30 years from 11.00am-12.45pm.

The Writer/Facilitator will be required to provide a safe and supportive environment that will encourage, nurture and develop participants and be welcoming to those who may lack self-confidence.

The Writer/Facilitator will be supported by a project manager, and will also have admin, evaluation, and marketing support from an assistant.

Applicants are requested to outline a structured delivery proposal that takes into account accessibility for a mixed ability group and that works in connection with Mayflower Theatre’s seasonal programme and other cultural events in Southampton. For example, British Art Show 8 is visiting the city between October 2017 and January 2018, and we would like to see events and opportunities like this and other local arts-based projects used as focal points to engage and inspire the group. Applicants are also requested to provide two example workshop plans showing time and content management and an up-to-date CV detailing relevant experience.

This is an exciting opportunity for a writer to work with a group over an extended period of time and to deliver engaging projects that celebrate young voices in Southampton. Remuneration is £120 per session.

SO:Write is a 2 year literature development project in Southampton, supported by Arts Council England and led by ArtfulScribe in partnership with Apples and Snakes, John Hansard Gallery, Mayflower Theatre, Nuffield, Southampton Festivals, and Southampton Libraries.
