Novel writing course 2018 (level 2) with Janis Mackay
Sat 6 Jan 2018 to Sun 6 May 2018
Deepening the Craft is a new course asked for by students who have completed the one year novel writing course and who would like to continue working on the first draft of their novel.

This new course is designed for people who already have, or almost have, completed the first draft of a novel and are looking to deepen their fiction writing skills in a supportive environment. We will look at crafting elements such as; gaining clarity on main characters motivation and core problem as pertains to the plot. We will give some time to explore dialogue, voice, point of view, setting and structure. In addition to crafting work, students will have the opportunity to both give and receive feedback. Students are asked to have at least 50,000 words of a work in progress, and are already familiar with the basic fiction writing skills.

Tutor: Janis Mackay, an award winning novelist and a creative writing tutor with many years of experience

The course takes place in the beautiful and creatively conducive surroundings of an Edinburgh New Town flat, and runs one Saturday (occasionally Sundays) per month from January to May. In addition to the five day workshops there will be a one to one tutorial and written feedback. The course costs £450.
